Played across 3 huge screens at London's O2 Arena for a leading wealth management company's annual meeting to welcome guest speaker, astronaut Chris Hadfield, to the stage.
A Word doc with some facts about Mr. Hadfield and a brief to get the crowd excited for his arrival on-stage was all I had to start with.
Humble beginnings!
I dreamt big and loud for this one.
With the opening shot I wanted to show the quiet wonder of a space station mixed with a sense of building intrigue. I animated a photo of the iconic ISS with subtle movement added and lens flares to help lift the scene:
From the Word doc I chose to use only the most impactful facts and interspersed them throughout in a simple typographic style over various images and video clips I sourced:
Audio is 50% of the viewing experience.
It can take a great deal of time to find the right music for a project, I landed on a suitably epic music track and chopped it up to fit the timing of the visuals.
The music was great but I felt it could do with an extra dramatic punch to beef it up so I added sound design elements consisting of risers and drum hits. The tricky part is making them fit harmoniously across both the visuals and music. You can listen to a section below with the music muted:

Following a myriad of business presentations at this event, this film switched the tone and built excitement for the assembled audience, conveying the grand, awe-inspiring nature of the guest speaker's achievements.
