According to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, almost half of the global population is not covered by essential health services; a fact that is inextricably linked to poverty, inequality, uneven distribution and lack of resources.
The Access to Healthcare initiative seeks to improve the lives of millions of people by removing inequity in healthcare through access to healthcare, product donations and initiatives that improve the reach and quality of treatment, care, and education.
In the telling of this story, the opening shots are vital - they set the sense of place, time or tone for what follows. In this case tone was the most important aspect so I placed a series of filmed portraits here, celebrating the people directly involved and affected by the issues the initiative seeks to address:






Sometimes technical issues occur, in this case the microphone recording for a key interviewee came out corrupted due to faulty recording equipment - words glitched or missing altogether - something that was unchecked by the camera crew on-site. Luckily they had also recorded audio via the on-board camera microphone as a backup; it's not great as it's distant with lots of room reverb. I was able to render it usable it thanks to a few audio restoration techniques I have up my sleeve:

Photos were a mixture of real-life and stock to help illustrate some sections. I used some simple light-flash transitions, camera click sound effects and movement on each photo so they feel more dynamic:
With a focus on positive outcomes, this video brought together success stories, bringing humanity to the forefront in an engaging way to help celebrate and promote the initiative.
