The challenge with this project was to take a fairly dry subject matter and create something that's part documentary, part promo.
The editorial process starts with a transcript of the interviews which I create and pass onto the client to highlight key sentences. From those selects I create a 'radio edit' - just the soundbites in place, no cutaways - to make sure the story flow and running time are optimal.
Once approved, it's a matter of whittling down the material to it's core essence, trimming those selects down, using negative space to act as chapter separators, adding and refining all the cutaway material, with music as the glue that binds it all together.
